Virtual Visits

The Lung Center at Brigham Health is committed to caring for our patients – especially through the most challenging of times. With Virtual Visits, you can connect with a Brigham Health Lung specialist who will consult with you virtually via telephone or video to help you stay connected to your care, whether you are a new patient* scheduling your first appointment with us, or an existing patient in need of follow-up care. For Virtual Visits, all you need is a smart phone, tablet, or computer with a video camera to get started. Call or request an appointment online, and our team will guide you through the process. For those that do not have access to video technology, our providers are also offering Virtual Visits over the phone. Schedule a Virtual VIsit today and see how our Lung care never stops.

*New patients must currently reside in Massachusetts to schedule a virtual visit.

How Virtual Visits Work

Virtual visits are one-on-one video or phone appointments with your Lung care provider covering all Lung specialties. They can be conducted for new patients, surgical consults, on-going chronic care, follow-up care and second opinions, so you can begin – or continue – your treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Virtual Visits

How can I try Virtual Visits?

If you are interested in scheduling a Virtual Visit, please call or request an appointment via the form below and the Lung Center will schedule the visit with your provider and assist you with your set up. Virtual Visits are currently only available to patients residing in Massachusetts.

What are the technology requirements?

Virtual Visits require:

  • Reliable internet access
  • A tablet, smartphone, or video-enabled desktop or laptop computer
  • For those who do not have access to video technology, Lung Center providers are also offering Virtual Visits over the phone.

Prior to a scheduled Virtual Visit, patients will be sent information on how to access their Virtual Visit.

  • Video Virtual Visits can be conducted using the Patient Gateway or Zoom platforms. A link to the appropriate platform will be provided ahead of the scheduled visit by your Lung Center care team
  • Patients can access their video Virtual Visits using the Patient Gateway or Zoom app on mobile or tablet devices, or via their internet browser on desktop or laptop computers.
How do I prepare for my first Virtual Visit?

Before you connect with your provider, our team will guide you through the process, including logging in to Partners Patient Gateway or Zoom and testing your devices. Otherwise, prepare for your provider visit as you normally would, including having your questions and health updates ready.

What if I need x-rays or imaging before my Virtual Visit?

Most appointments require recent imaging before your Virtual Visit.  Imaging can be scheduled at any Brigham Health imaging location or at a local facility outside our MGB network that our Lung Center staff can assist with coordinating for you. Once your scan is completed we will make sure the images are available for your provider to review before the Virtual Visit.

What is the cost?

If your insurance covers Virtual Visits, you will be responsible for your standard insurance office visit co-pay.
